Wedding Sari Packing and Decorating

Hey...i got an order of Wedding Sari Packing and Decorating...will you believe...i thought it'll be fun...I'll be busy doing something and as a matter of fact..i love doing creative things..... :-)
First..i did some shopping...and you know...there was no special items for decoration in the market... :-(
i had to buy gota's and ribbons and some ready-made flowers which were too small...i chose matching colors similar to Sari so that the ribbon looks good on them.
But...as i started folding and packing Sari...it was not really easy...i mean, i had packed Sari's before but these were too heavy and unmanageable.
Anyways...i did it with the help of my dear daughter Sobia...and at last we finished the work...and it was really nice to hear that everyone loved it...:-)
If you work hard and your work is appreciated...nothing better than that...you really feel satisfied and happy.

Now for those people who are wondering what is Sari - it is Indian traditional dress worn by women in most part of India and South Asia.

The small packet with the Sari is Bindi - small decorative dot placed on forehead, worn by women in South Asia.

Nice to share things with you all....
luv ya... :-)

Dal Peetha -- A low calories dish of ancient times.

Hi!!
I am writing after a long time..
Was a bit busy...and lazy too... :)

Rice dough
Today i am going to share recipe of
... 'Dal Peetha'...
Dal Peetha is an ancient delicacy ...
My Grandmother used to make it...
But i bet it is much older than that...

So, coming straight to the recipe...
Ingredients :-
Dal - 1 cup (chana or masoor)
Rice - 2 cups (average basmati)
mixing spices in dal paste
Onion - 1 medium (cut in small pieces)
{use spices as per your requirement}
coriander leaves, pepper,
garam masala powder,
red chili powder (if you want really spicy),
and salt to taste.
Soak Dal and Rice separately for 3-4 hours.
Grind Rice and make tough dough
add a little salt to it and keep it aside.

flattened rice with dal paste
Now grind Dal and make a paste with
minimum water in it..
Mix all spices, chopped onion
and salt to taste in dal dough.

Now for steam...place a deep utensil
with half filled water on your stove.
Tie a cloth tightly over the utensil..
don't leave the loose ends of the cloth,
tuck them properly or it will burn..
cloth tied on utensil and
peethas are getting steamed..
cover it with lid..
Keep the flame medium...

Make small balls from rice dough..
flatten each balls by hand and place
a spoonful of dal paste on it...
fold the rice part into half..{see the pics}
put it on the cloth with boiling water to
steam the Peethas...
cover the utensil with a lid..and
cook it for 5-7 minutes...on low
flame..turn it once while still cooking..
to equally cook from both sides...

When cooked remove from flame...
DAL PEETHA
place it on a plate...
eat it with any sauce or chutney.. :)

Cook..eat n enjoy..
and don't forget to tell me how it was...
Till we meet again....
Luv u all :)
