Dal Peetha -- A low calories dish of ancient times.

Hi!!
I am writing after a long time..
Was a bit busy...and lazy too... :)

Rice dough
Today i am going to share recipe of
... 'Dal Peetha'...
Dal Peetha is an ancient delicacy ...
My Grandmother used to make it...
But i bet it is much older than that...

So, coming straight to the recipe...
Ingredients :-
Dal - 1 cup (chana or masoor)
Rice - 2 cups (average basmati)
mixing spices in dal paste
Onion - 1 medium (cut in small pieces)
{use spices as per your requirement}
coriander leaves, pepper,
garam masala powder,
red chili powder (if you want really spicy),
and salt to taste.
Soak Dal and Rice separately for 3-4 hours.
Grind Rice and make tough dough
add a little salt to it and keep it aside.

flattened rice with dal paste
Now grind Dal and make a paste with
minimum water in it..
Mix all spices, chopped onion
and salt to taste in dal dough.

Now for steam...place a deep utensil
with half filled water on your stove.
Tie a cloth tightly over the utensil..
don't leave the loose ends of the cloth,
tuck them properly or it will burn..
cloth tied on utensil and
peethas are getting steamed..
cover it with lid..
Keep the flame medium...

Make small balls from rice dough..
flatten each balls by hand and place
a spoonful of dal paste on it...
fold the rice part into half..{see the pics}
put it on the cloth with boiling water to
steam the Peethas...
cover the utensil with a lid..and
cook it for 5-7 minutes...on low
flame..turn it once while still cooking..
to equally cook from both sides...

When cooked remove from flame...
DAL PEETHA
place it on a plate...
eat it with any sauce or chutney.. :)

Cook..eat n enjoy..
and don't forget to tell me how it was...
Till we meet again....
Luv u all :)

Side Affects of using too much Computer

No no..I am not writing a medical journal...
It is the fact about me...because i sit too much
in front of computer..{yes, it is true..} :)
My friendship or you can say...relationship with

But since last 3 years...we are best buddies...
I and my PC with internet....{can't live without it...}
Okay!!
Now lets cut short the history ...
So... i was telling you about the side
affects that struck me after i sat too much
in front of my computer...

I started sleeping less...
{when you once enter the internet world....
you just forget to see the watch... isn't it?}
Then you know what happened afterwards??
I started dozing off in front of computer... :D
Hmmmmm......and you know once...
{now don't laugh}.....
I fell down from the chair.....ahhmm
My sweet lil mouse was on the floor... :(
It got damaged...but it is still working...{partially}
Ohh...no!!...and my chair....it has also started saying...
"i have had too much...please retire me"... :P
I am in desperate need of a new mouse and a chair...
or else both will run away....'poor me'.... :(

I'll get these problem fixed....
Till then...keep smiling.. :)

Holiday projects for kids

Hi guys...
I visited my sister in Delhi a few days back.
Enjoyed our time there...with my sister
Arshi and her two cute lil daughters..
Ameena and Alia. Ameena had a project
to do..make anything from clay...
so my sis idea was to make eggs
in the nest...

So, as we started to make eggs...
(see the pictures)

* shaped the clay in small egg shape.

* we made 5 eggs of same size.
you can make as much as you
want..

* then rolled a handful amount of clay
in long shape...and joined the two
ends for nest base..and placed it on
a cardboard...

* stick some hay with glue on nest
base so it looks real..
now let the clay dry...

* now decoration...
color the eggs as you like...
you can use water colors or poster colors..
use your imagination...
you can color the eggs like easter eggs...
just as we had done it...

Most important...enjoy what you do... :)
Happy Holidays... love you all ...

Presence of Mind..

Once, a dog lost his way deep into the jungle.
He almost fainted to see a lion coming straight to him at a very near
distant.

"I will be dead today" , thought he.
There were some bones lying over there.
He turned his back towards lion and started pretending as if he is eating
those bones.
When lion was very close to him he cried out loudly "Wow, what a fun
eating a lion, by chance if I can get another one, it will be a treat ".
Lion thought "What a dangerous dog!!!!! He kills lions and eats it. Let me
run away from here and save my life ".

Now, there was a Monkey hiding on the tree there watching the entire show.
He thought "It's a good chance to tell the truth to the lion. Lion will
become my friend and I will not have to run saving my life from him ". He
just ran away to inform the entire episode to Lion.
The dog had seen him going and quickly understood the ploy.
Both lion and monkey were coming back to the dog and the lion was
furious.
When lion was very close to him he again cried out loudly " It has been
half an hour and yet that stupid monkey can't fetch another lion??!!!!". .

Morale: "It is by presence of mind in untried emergencies that the native
metal of man is tested."

Can't Stop Laughing...

A college student needed a small two-hour course to fill his schedule
and the only one available was wildlife Zoology. So he joined in and
after one week of study, a test was held. The professor passed out
a sheets of small paper where in each square was a carefully drawn
picture of a bird's legs.
No bodies, no feet, just legs.
The test asked each student to identify the birds from their legs.
Our student sat and stared at the test getting angrier every minute.
Finally he stomped up to the front of the classroom and threw the
test on the teacher's desk. "This is the worst test I have ever written."
The teacher looked up and said: "Young man, you have not filled in
anything and you definitely have failed the test.
Tell me, what's your name?"
The student pulled up his pant to the knee showing his legs and said,
"You tell me...?"

Today...had fun with 'tuk tuk'..!!

It was a fine morning today...Sobia was home...her Saturdays
are off...So we were planning to go somewhere....but where??
it was hard to decide...We were doing breakfast and thinking
what to do...and at the same time electricity went off....
hmmm...and in the newspaper it was written that
the electricity will come at 5 pm... O My God..!!
So we decided lets go to sector 17...we will roam around do
window shopping...eat and do shopping as well then come
back home....so that we will not have to
be at home without electricity for long.....
Then we...me and Sobia...got ready...called Radio Auto...
the 'tuk tuk' auto service in our tricity... :)
It is pink, cute and 'tuk tuk'...hehehehe....
It was so much of fun...when we sat in it...everyone was
looking at us...wherever we went...kids were pointing towards us....
It is new thing in our city so people are not familiar with it...
So we went to sector 17... did shopping....had fun...
had our lunch there...and came back home....we got too tired...
took rest...in heat...without electricity....coz it came after 6 pm...
My legs are aching till now...
Altogether it was a nice day... :)
